Why we decided to move to the Polar circle

Right after Felicia was born, we decided to come to the north of Sweden to retreat into the new life of becoming parents and to be in nature. After two months into this adventure, we started or continued looking for houses. Since we love snow, we wanted a “winter getaway” with river and land to enjoy the amazing winters the north of Sweden offers. Little did we know that we fell completely in love when we found our house in Tornedalen.

Out of curiosity, we checked the preschools here and found out we had one quite close that taught in meänkeli and Swedish and had a small group of kids. We were sold!

So, in June, after we had signed the papers for the house, we decided to come back again in October to see the house and see if it was a good idea. Meanwhile, we were going to rent our apartment in Stockholm.

October came faster than expected. After a great time surfing in the Philippines, we went to an autumn wonderland. Our first winter in an old/new house was here. WE LOVED IT

This was it. We decided to stay and made all the preparations for it. We agreed that the remediation needed architects involved, and started working on it.

Like this, we started meeting the neighbours, and soon it was Felicia’s first school day. Our new routine changed, but became magical. We had everything from reindeer in the garden to shiny snow and mesmerising sunsets.
