Skateboarding = Asphalt Surfing

Yes! when I can’t surf, I skateboard.

I try to go surfing as much as I can to different places: SiargaoBrazil, and  Mexico; however, when I am home and I want to keep fit, I practice other sports, such as skateboarding. I started 3 years ago.

I have got a longboard in beachmountain.ch; there are so many different boards that I didn’t know where exactly to start! One of my surf friends told me that a longboard was the best option.

So I started longboarding. It wasn’t easy at all. I was quite embarrassed by being on the streets with a skateboard looking clumsy. But after a while, I got used to it. Sliding curves is similar to surfboarding. I have been practicing on the streets watching out for the cars. It has been very fun!

 A year later, my Dad gave me a Penny board as a present. I was so scared to use it because it is so small! Finally last year, in Sweden I decided to start riding it.  Happily, there is a lot of bicycle roads so that everyone can practice there. Although the first hours were very hard, I got used to the tiny size very fast. With the Penny board, it is easier to turn and run faster than with the longboard, which at times can be tricky. It is wonderful to “glide” on the asphalt every now and then.

I am learning fast and my goal during these months is to practice at least once a week. I like it a lot because I don’t have to worry so much about where to leave it (like the bike). Besides, I love to match my outfit with the colors of my penny board.

I am trying to become a better longboarder as well, so if you have some tips, I will be happy to read them. If you happen to be in Malmö, contact me to go for a ride together :)

 Do you Skateboard as well?
